Color Play Friday - Max in the River

Hello and welcome to Color Play Friday! I missed last week because life has been BUSY but I'm glad I found the time to play along this week.

For those of you who may be new, Color Play Friday is a fun, weekly challenge hosted by Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week she provides a photo as inspiration and then the Color Play Friday participants create a color palette and a fabric bundle based on the photo. It's a lot of fun and anyone can play along! You can get more info on how to join in the fun by clicking on the Color Play Friday button on my sidebar.

Here is the photo for the week.

There is so much to love about this photo!

Here is what I came up with.

I'm not gonna lie, I STRUGGLED with this one! It's always really hard for me to find just the right green fabrics. I don't know if its because not a lot of designers use green in their collections or if it's because I just have some mental block with the color. I should point out that green is actually my favorite color. Anyway... I guess I kinda sorta like my palette and bundle. This one will have to grow on me.

Let's just take a minute to look at that cute dog! #mustlovedogs

I shopped at Hawthorne Threads again this week. Is anyone surprised? (non-affiliate links)

Color Play Friday - Wine Cellar

I could definitely use a trip to the wine cellar but hey, at least it's Friday! And that means it's Color Play Friday!

Color Play Friday (CPF) is a weekly challenge hosted by Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week she provides an inspiration photograph and then the CPF participants create a color palette and a fabric bundle based on the photo. It's a lot of fun and everyone is welcome to play along! You can find out more info by clicking the CPF button on my sidebar.

The photo this week is actually one of mine. I took this on a road trip nearly ten years ago. I wasn't planning on visiting Napa Valley but the notion took hold and I made a detour. I discovered this great winery that was giving free tours and, really, how could I pass that up?!

This photo was taken in the wine cellar. I really loved the way the light was playing on the barrels, giving everything a warm glow. (The warm glow feeling may have been enhanced by the free tasting samples they were giving out. Just saying...)

As much as I love the photo, those warm orange-y yellows are so not my go to colors. This CPF definitely took me out of my comfort zone. But you know what? That's what makes CPF so much fun. Every week is something new with it's own unique challenge. So there you have it - my best attempt at a warm orange/yellow/brown palette and bundle.

Color Play Friday - Isaac at the Beach

Hello and welcome to Color Play Friday! I'm glad you stopped by to see what color shenanigans I'm up to this week.

Color Play Friday (CPF) is a weekly challenge hosted by Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine (and it's a way for me to exercise my color skills). Each week Lorinda provides an inspiration photograph and then the CPF participants create a color palette and a fabric bundle based on the photo. It's a lot of fun and it's open to everyone. You can get more info on how to play along by clicking the button on my sidebar.

This week's photo has me longing for sunny beach days with a cold drink in my hand and my toes in the sand.

Here is what I came up with.

This one was definitely a labor of love. I had a really hard time finding fabrics in those bright colors. Sometimes the perfect fabric just jumps out at you and sometimes you have to search and search. In the end it usually works out though and I'm happy with what I came up with.
