Color Play Friday - Evergreen State Fair

Hello and welcome to another Color Play Friday!

For those of you who may be new, Color Play Friday (CPF) is a fun weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week they provide one of their photographs as inspiration and then the CPF participants create a color palette and a fabric bundle based on the photo.

Here is this week's photo.

I don't know about you, but all I can think of when I look at that photo is cotton candy.

Forgetting my sweet tooth for a minute, here is what I came up with this time.

There is so much fun color in this photo. Sometimes that can be a blessing, but this time it was a curse. I found myself all over the place with color. I pulled so many colors that I was able to create several palettes, all with a different feel. I ended up choosing this palette because I thought it best represented the fun, playfulness of the fair. I started with the colorful Go Go London print by Pat Bravo. From there it was just a matter of finding the right coordinates.

What's your favorite ride at the fair? Ferris wheel? Bumper Cars? Fun House? I'm a Tilt-a-Whirl girl through and through. ;)

I shopped at Hawthorne Threads again this week.

Color Play Friday - Dandelion

Hello and welcome back to Color Play Friday!

For those of you who are new, Color Play Friday (CPF) is a weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week they provide one of their photographs as inspiration and then the participants create a color palette and a coordinating fabric bundle based on the photo. It's a lot of fun and great way to play with virtual fabric!

This week's photo is called Dandelion.

Here is what I came up with this week.

For a while I've been wanting to create a bundle that had one focus fabric surrounded by polka dot fabrics. I started out with a gorgeous modern floral that had lots of bright greens and oranges and pinks. Then I faced the challenge of finding all those dots! When I finally curated the dot fabrics I wanted, the focus fabric just didn't work anymore. I was lucky though; I found that gorgeous Heather Bailey print. I think it just makes the bundle.

I "shopped" at Hawthorne Fabrics again. What can I say? I'm pretty predictable.

Color Play Friday - Crocus

Hello and welcome to another Color Play Friday!

Phew! It has been a funky week around here. Tuesday felt like Wednesday, Thursday felt like Tuesday, and Monday always feels like Monday... You get the idea. I'm glad it's Friday and I'm glad its a Color Play Friday!

For those of you who are new, Color Play Friday is a fun weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week they provide one of their photographs as inspiration and then the participants create a color palette and a coordinating fabric bundle based on the photo.

This week's photo is simply gorgeous. It's called Crocus.

Here is what I came up.

This is such a pretty flower! I believe it came from Lorinda's garden. Maybe I'll try my hand at gardening some day. I do not have a green thumb though, so any garden of mine would need a lot of help! Lol. The colors are so vibrant and I really wanted my bundle to reflect that. I wanted to add a green to the palette but purple, orange, and green just screams Halloween. So when I saw the Sarah Campbell print I knew I just HAD to use it. It really pulls all the colors together while including that pop of green I was so desperately missing. With that as my focus fabric I used blender fabrics in the other colors to fill out the bundle. I even sneaked in some Painters Canvas. ;)
