Hello everyone!
I sewed! I actually sewed!! You see, it's been a while. I think the last time I sewed anything was at the beginning of November. I have to laugh because right around that time my old rotary cutter gave out and I went out of my way to go to the shop and get a new one because I simply couldn't be without a rotary cutter! You know what I mean?! Then I lost all sew-jo and that darn new rotary cutter is still in the packaging. Eeep!
So yeah... I finally finished the last few seams on this flimsy.
This was a long time WIP (work in progress) and it feels really good to move it to the flimsy pile. For you non-quilty folk, a flimsy is a completed quilt top that is just waiting to be quilted up. This top makes 9 flimsies that are hanging out and waiting to be quilted. Add that to the 25 WIPs that I have in various stages - everything from fabric pulls to completed blocks - and to the 3 long term scrappy projects I've got going on and I've got a lot to finish up! I think this will be the year of WIP!
Phew! I'm tired just thinking about it all. I don't think I'll be starting any new projects or buying any new fabric for a while!

Good for you Sarah! I love your latest finished top. And by the sounds of your post you are determined to make this the year of the finished projects! I am determined to sew from my stash this year, too. But you do need a rotary cutter, yes....
ReplyDeleteThis is a neat piece! Looks like six different fabrics? Do you remember how much of each fabric this design required? I'm making a list of fat quarter friendly patterns, and I really like what you've done here!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found your sewjo and what a great way to start back: with a quilt top finish! I love the color combination. :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful quilt, just look at those great points!! :) And thank you for teaching me the word 'flimsy' its a new one on me!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to get back to sewing after some time off? And even better to finish a top that's been a WIP for a long time. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. The colours are great. I haven't tried half rectangles yet.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt - love the fabrics you've used! Thanks for sharing on Midweek Makers
