Hello Fall and October Goals

Holy cannoli!! It's October already!

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! I love the crisp air, the smell of burning leaves, and the flavor of pumpkin in everything! Okay, maybe not everything but definitely in my Quick and Easy Pumpkin Muffins. These muffins make an appearance every year around this time.

In fact, I just rummaged through my cupboards and it turns out I have all the ingredients I need to whip up a batch! Yum! This will be the first batch of the year. I usually like to wait until I'm 100% sure it's Fall. The summer has been lingering and lingering and lingering. Almost like that Cranberries song. But come on, it's October already! It's time for the muffins.

While I'm baking I might as well work on some of my top priority projects. I actually have a lot of projects to work on, some big and some little, but there are a few that are just more important than others right now. So, this month I'm going to try and limit my goals and maybe, just maybe, I'll actually complete them all!

OCTOBER GOALS:

1.  Later this month I'm participating in the Eerie Nights Halloween Blog Hop hosted by Seams to Be Sew and Sew Incredibly Crazy. I have a design planned out and I have fabric but that's it so far! So, yeah, this is definitely my top priority.

2.  Next up I have this fun little stack of solids and gingham that I've been toying with for a while now. And I do mean a while! At this point I have half a quilt top put together but I just need to buckle down and sew those last few rows. I'm afraid that if I don't get that done soon I'll be flirting in the danger zone of quilting. We all know the danger zone. It's that nasty point in the quilting process where you start to fall out of love with a project. Personally, I think the danger zone should come with warning bells and flashing lights but it doesn't. It's sneaky. And if you find that you've crossed it without knowing, your project is doomed to the WIP pile forever!

(Also, is it just me or does everyone start singing Kenny Loggins when they hear phrase "danger zone?" It may just be me. I feel the need, the need for speed.)

3.  The third project that I really want to work on this month is the Meadow Mystery Quilt QAL hosted by Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs. Every year Cheryl hosts a free mystery QAL and you can read about my experience with last year's Midnight Mystery quilt in this post. I was really sick last year so I didn't play along monthly but put the whole thing together at the end of the QAL. This year I really wanted to participate in real time, but um... I'm already a few months behind. The fourth month of instructions will be posted tomorrow so I don't have too much catching up to do. So far, all I have is my fabric pull. Better get crackin'!

Fabrics A-D in order from top to bottom.

I think that's all I'll list for now. It's nice to have a small "to-do" list. Everything seems more achievable this way, lol. I'll keep you posted on the progress and don't forget to check back later this month for the blog hop!

  1. Oh that dreaded Danger Zone. I was just thinking about a couple of projects that fell in there that I really, really need to just do so I can have the space. The problem is when they are almost done and you just can't seem to finish that last day or so of work. There really should be an alarm. "Warning! You are entering the Danger Zone! Finish this project NOW!" hahaha
