Color Play Friday - Crocus

Hello and welcome to another Color Play Friday!

Phew! It has been a funky week around here. Tuesday felt like Wednesday, Thursday felt like Tuesday, and Monday always feels like Monday... You get the idea. I'm glad it's Friday and I'm glad its a Color Play Friday!

For those of you who are new, Color Play Friday is a fun weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Each week they provide one of their photographs as inspiration and then the participants create a color palette and a coordinating fabric bundle based on the photo.

This week's photo is simply gorgeous. It's called Crocus.

Here is what I came up.

This is such a pretty flower! I believe it came from Lorinda's garden. Maybe I'll try my hand at gardening some day. I do not have a green thumb though, so any garden of mine would need a lot of help! Lol. The colors are so vibrant and I really wanted my bundle to reflect that. I wanted to add a green to the palette but purple, orange, and green just screams Halloween. So when I saw the Sarah Campbell print I knew I just HAD to use it. It really pulls all the colors together while including that pop of green I was so desperately missing. With that as my focus fabric I used blender fabrics in the other colors to fill out the bundle. I even sneaked in some Painters Canvas. ;)

I "shopped" at Hawthorne Threads this week.

  1. I love it! We chose very similar colors this week. And I love that we both chose Robert Kaufman dots, but different ones!

  2. I love this palette! Orange and purple are so good together and I love that you pulled in the lime green with the fun print that you chose.
