Color Play Friday - 80s Skate Party

Ahh... The 80's.

Reaganomics... MTV... Super Mario Bros... Molly Ringwald and the Brat Pack... big hair... and of course, the fashion! The iconic neons, the acid washed denim, the leg warmers, the shoulder pads!

Good times.

This week's Color Play Friday is called 80's Skate Party and it brings back all those most excellent memories.

How rad is this picture?! I would love to go to an 80's themed roller skate party. Although, I think the last time I actually went roller skating was in the 80's; I fell and broke my wrist. Gasp! I just remembered my cast was neon pink! How did I forget that?! If that's not a sign of the times, I don't know what is! Hahaha.

Here is my color palette/bundle based on this week's photo.

Naturally I had to go the neon route this week. I swear I had a bathing suit that had all these colors on it. Lol. I think this is such a choice color palette and I can totally see it working in the 80's as well as today.

Color Play Friday is a weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Every week they offer up one of their photographs and then all the participants create a color palette and fabric bundle based off the photo.

Color Play Friday! - French Food

Hello and welcome!

It's Color Play Friday! I love CPF. It's a chance for me to play around with color and fabric, two things I absolutely adore.

Color Play Friday is a weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine (side note: it is so hard for me to leave out the Oxford comma in her blog name!) Each week they choose one of their photos and then all the participants create a color palette and corresponding fabric bundle based on the photo.

Sound like fun? (It is!) Want to join in? Check out the Trina's CPF Page or Lorinda's CPF page for more details!

========

This week's photo was taken by Trina. It's aptly titled French Food.

It looks so yummy. It brings back memories of the France Pavilion at Epcot World Showcase at Disneyworld. That's the closest I've been to France. Unless you count the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, lol.

Here is my palette/bundle for the week.

I really like the tartness of my palette this week. I did struggle with the third and fourth colors but I think it all came together in the end. And yes, it's another blender bundle this week. I can't help it. I love blenders! You can get a lot of mileage out of them, the most bang for your buck! Also, I tried to sneak a few plaids in there this week but they just didn't work out. Bummer.

I "shopped" for this week's fabrics at Stash Fabrics and Hawthorne Threads.

Color Play Friday - EMP

Hi everyone!

I can't believe it's already Friday! I feel like every Friday I'm sort of bewildered that the week is over. Where did it go? I still have things to do! I still have quilts to sew!

One of the best things about Fridays is #ColorPlayFriday!!! I love playing along with hosts Trina of In an Otter Life and Lorinda of Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Every week they select one of their own photographs and then all the participants of CPF create a color palette and bundle based on the photo. Let me just say, these ladies take some fantastic photos, like the photo for this week.

This amazing photo was taken by Lorinda. It is the EMP Building in Seattle. A trip here has been added to my bucket list! Bonus: You can see the reflection of the Space Needle

Here is my palette/bundle for the week.

I'm happy to say that this week's palette/bundle came easy to me. Some weeks I struggle with finding just the right colors and fabrics but this week everything seemed to fall into place. This also happens to be one of my favorite color palettes/bundles so far. Maybe that's why it was so much easier this week...

I picked a lot of geometrics and blenders this week to complement the gorgeous building. Any Frank O. Gehry fans out there?

I "shopped" at Hawthorne Threads again this week. Here are my fabric choices:

I really love how the fabrics work and play together. And of course, now I really want this bundle. Lol!

Sunday Stash - Winner Winner!

Blogging? On a Sunday???? Whaaaa?

Oh yeah! I'm blogging on the weekend. A truly rare occurrence. It's even more rare that I actually have a Sunday Stash to share with you all!

I've had a bit of luck in the giveaway arena lately. I won two awesome fabric bundles!

========

First up is this gorgeous bundle of Modern Neutrals by Amy Ellis from Amy's Creative Side.

Amy recently hosted #IGquiltfest over on Instagram (IG). (You can check out my Instagram right here or by clicking the button on the top right of my blog.) #IGquiltfest was a week long photo challenge on IG with daily prompts and sponsored prizes. The prizes were awarded randomly. Just luck of the draw.

This gorgeous bundle of fabric was provided by Michele at Quilt Kit Market. So a huge thanks to Amy and Michele for making this happen!

========

Next is the pretty pink bundle that may seem a bit familiar if you've been following along with Color Play Friday. (More info about Color Play Friday can be found on the two host blog's In an Otter Life and Laurel, Poppy and Pine.)

A few weeks ago Color Play Friday was sponsored by Stash Fabrics. Up for grabs was one of two bundles. One of Trina's bundles and one of Lorinda's. I was lucky enough to win Lorinda's bundle.

Aren't these fabrics vibrant! They'll make great additions to my stash. Thanks so much Lorinda for hosting and to Beth from Stash Fabrics for sponsoring the giveaway!

Info about these fabrics can be found on Lorinda's blog post.

Color Play Friday - Tulsa Rose Garden

It Friday! You all know what that means... it's Color Play Friday!

Color Play Friday is a weekly challenge hosted by Trina from In an Otter Life and Lorinda from Laurel, Poppy and Pine. Every week they use one of their own photos as inspiration. Then the participants for that week create a color palette and a bundle of fabric based on that photo.

This week's photo is one of Trina's. She took it while wandering around a park in Tulsa.

I don't ever see pretty roses when I go to the park. Mostly I'm just trying to avoid stepping in goose poop. Such is life.

Here is my palette/bundle for the week.

This week I really wanted to pick a softer palette. I think I managed to come up with something sweet and delicate but still modern. I started with the floral print and then I thought it would be neat to chose all floral fabrics. Well, it soon got crazy and out of hand. Too many florals, nothing matched. Instead, I went with some good blenders. Plus, I managed to sneak a plaid print in there. For those of you who don't know, I LOVE plaid.

My fabrics come from Hawthorne Threads this week.
